Advent is a season of preparing our hearts and homes to welcome the baby who changed everything. Now I don’t know about you, but often December 4th rolls around and I realize I’ve missed the first whole week of Advent! So this year, I’m trying to make a plan before it actually starts! ➡️ Advent 2019 starts on Sunday, December 1st.

Here is a short list of some Lifetime Remedy favorites and resource recommendations.

Of course, the top priority in every season is getting into God’s Word. Hopefully the suggestions below will only enhance your time with the Lord between now and Christmas.

Devotionals

  • John Piper Advent devotional: Good News of Great Joy, a free download from Desiring God.
  • Come Let Us Adore Him: an Advent devotional by Paul David Tripp.
  • Behold the Lamb album! Run, don’t walk, to get yourself a copy of this album. This feels like a devotional set to music and is one album I can easily listen to all year ’round as it shares the Creation to Christ story in a non-traditional way. If you haven’t been listening to Andrew Peterson, you might want to start ☺️

For Kids

  • The Christmas Promise, by Alison Mitchell.
  • From Eden to Bethlehem, by Danielle Hitchen. (We just love the books in this Baby Believer series.)
  • Seeds Family Worship has a short Christmas album. It’s included with an Amazon Prime membership and also if you have a RightNow Media account.
  • The Sweetest Story Ever Told, interactive kit. This cookie baking kit was designed by Lysa TerKeurst from Proverbs31 ministries to teach your family how to tell the story of Jesus’ birth in a fun, hands-on (and delicious!) way. Use the elements in this kit to teach your kids about God’s greatest gift to us — His Son! My daughter LOVES baking – aka, dumping and stirring things in my KitchenAid Mixer. 🍪 So I plan on doing this with her this year and then delivering the cookies to our neighbors.
  • Printable Advent cards. Teaches the names of Jesus and serves as family Christmas countdown. Only $5, you print your own via Etsy.
