Today would be a great day to show your kids what friendship looks like. Consider inviting some friends to get together (extra bonus points If they have children your kids’ ages).

If you are finding yourself “stressed” about the perfect situation- Stop! Don’t put so much pressure on yourself to make a perfect environment. If your Saturday cleaning did not get done- have a bonfire (no one has to come inside), or if your grocery budget is slim – make root beer floats. Board games and movie nights with friends, meet ups at the park, grabbing a pizza together, or even a simple game of family volleyball at the local public volleyball courts can be ways to have a fun time with friends and role model friendship skills to your children.

Our spouses and kids need to see us interact, socialize and laugh with our friends. It’s part of building healthy relationships and kingdom kids.

P.S: For those of you that do not have children- having couples’ friends is healthy for your relationship as well. When we engage in social situations where godly laughter and conversion are driven by other couples, there is an element of attraction and romance that can be released amongst couples. We were created to be in relationship with others. I often remember Genesis 2:18 where God tells us that He created Eve because “it is not good for man to be alone”.… I can’t help but believe that God feels the same way with friendship.
