Hi Y’all. Yes, I say “Y’all.” I’m Donna Durham, the only Lifetime Remedy team member that lives in the South. I call Franklin, Tennessee home. But I lived in Orange City, Iowa for 10 years, where I met the rest of our wonderful team. This is my “get to know me” post. Where do I start? There are so many different parts of me that I want to share.

I guess the best starting place is to say that I am a Christ-follower. I love Jesus. I have walked with Him since I was 11 years old. He has healed so many emotional wounds from growing up with a mentally ill mom. That is quite a story that I hope to share someday. I have been privileged to worship in and be a part of many different denominations in my life. I love the various ways that the body of Christ worships and celebrates God. From liturgical to evangelical, from protestant to charismatic they all have so much to teach us.

In my early 40’s I went back to school to earn a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. It is my great privilege and pleasure to be a therapist and walk with my clients through the various trials of life. For a living, I get to observe people healing! Many of my posts will focus on mental and emotional health. If you have a topic you would like me to talk about, please let us know in the comments below. 👇🏻
My life calling is to be a healer in the church. My therapy practice is full of Christian women who need a compassionate presence to be with them as they seek wholeness and healing. 💗

My husband and I are empty nesters. We celebrated 25 years of marriage in January. He is my favorite person in the whole world. He is kind, creative and so very funny. We have 3 amazing adult children. Josh is 24, Rachel is 22 and Jack is 20. My early married life was full of being a mom to our little brood. I have learned a lot about parenting and attachment in the past few years that I wish I had known when my kids were younger. I look forward to sharing more about that with you!

Another part of my life includes being a legal conservator for my mother that suffers from Dementia. She lives in Memory Care about a mile from my house. I hope to share more here about when aging parents need adult children to step in and care for them.

Y’all! I love life! I love traveling and learning and reading. I really care about the gender issues that are present in our culture and our churches. I care about justice and race issues and hope we can wrestle with some of those topics here.

My life verse is Jeremiah 17:7-8
“Blessed is the man that puts his trust in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord. For He will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.”

Life provides plenty of ups and downs and we have a faithful, trustworthy God that is with us through all of it.

Thanks for reading about me. I hope to learn more about you!

~ Donna
